Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel says he will not overwhelm his Chelsea players with “tactical tricks” ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup final against Leicester City and believes victory at Wembley could prove very important in helping the Blues win the Champions League.
Chelsea will head into tomorrow’s final as favourites. Given their impressive form displayed since Tuchel took charge, that is hardly a surprise.
The Blues have lost just three of the 26 matches the 47-year-old has managed although one of those loses came against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Tuchel will also have a full squad to choose his side from. N’Golo Kante has trained the last two days after missing the game with the Gunners, as also Andreas Christensen.
Mateo Kovacic is also ready to return after a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
Tomorrow’s clash at Wembley is the first of four pivotal games for Chelsea. What has gone before is now largely irrelevant. These matches will define the Blues campaign.
Chelsea are hopeful to Win them all and the Blues will be FA Cup winners, top-four finishers in the Premier League, and champions of Europe for only the second time.
“Given the fact we are a young team, it could be a huge step to overcome this obstacle and have this experience together,” Tuchel explained.
“It could be absolutely crucial. If it’s not possible to win, we will push the team to bounce back because sport is about this. It makes finals special; they can be crucial moments and in terms of development, it can be a huge boost.
“I don’t think that stops if we don’t win but it can be an accelerator for everything that’s coming. It can be a huge boost in confidence in the race for the top four and ahead of the Champions League final. So yes, this is all pretty much in the pot for tomorrow.
