The travel documents of Dr. Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, as well as her predecessor Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouq, have been seized by the EFCC. Additionally, the international passport of Halima Shehu, the suspended National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), has also been impounded. These actions were taken as part of the conditions for granting them administrative bail while they are being interrogated for alleged financial crimes. The EFCC has requested the submission of their passports to restrict their movement and ensure their availability for further questioning. The travel papers will remain with the commission until the investigation is concluded. In addition to the ministers, three managing directors of banks have also been questioned regarding their suspected involvement in conspiracy and violation of the Anti-Money Laundering Act. The banks are accused of failing to raise red flags and engaging in suspicious transactions.
