Except for the fact that they’re both on the verge of releasing groundbreaking projects, there’s hardly any way you’d be able to put Buju and Mayorkun together.
They’re as distant as they could be. Mayorkun is a guy that stormed the scene with a big first single (“Eleko”) after he signed to Davido’s DMW imprint. Buju, on the other hand, is this guy who for a couple of years worked his ass off to gain prominence amongst alternative artists, finally breaking into the mainstream with a Show Dem Camp song in 2019. They couldn’t be any farther from each other.
Luckily for me — cause I’ve been hoping to link them together for a while—I happen to find something they have in common. They both have a song called “Your Body.” Well, at least they’re both on the song.
Mayorkun‘s “Your Body” is a well-known hit from last year, and one of his biggest songs going into the awards season earlier this year. The song which has an uptempo instrumental is a good afro-pop number that can turn up any venue at any time!
Buju’s “Your Body,” however is the much-recent Basketmouth single, which signaled the start of a new campaign for the comedian—a new album could be coming. This one is laid-back and sweet, and short. That’s all it is. It’s not Buju’s best performance, but it’s all right.
Anyway, which of these would you keep if you had to keep just one. I’d go for Buju‘s “Your Body” mostly because I don’t exactly like uptempo stuff, especially from badass singers.
Which Would You Go For Though? Buju’s Or Mayorkun’s?
Let’s hear from you.
